I’m a fan of reading. You probably should be, too. Belief in the necessity of reading and the value of the written word seems to disintegrate a bit more with every 140 character blast that slips out into the ether. C’est la vie. All I can do is hope that groups like the Folio Society continue to commit themselves to make the experience of reading books (which cannot be replicated with your Kindle, iPad, or computer screen) as pleasurable and interesting as possible (I realize the idea of an illustrated book or graphic novel is nothing new, but it is nice to see care and consideration in the style and overall aesthetic of the work). Enjoy these photos of the Folio Society’s edition of one of my favorite books, William Golding’s Lord of the Flies.
Art by Sam Weber, who I think did a wonderful job capturing the intrigue and horror of Golding’s story.
