A Junky Walking Through the Twilight

So this isn’t really new, but I wanted share Gil Scott Heron’s latest with our readers. I think it’s remarkable that a man who helped shape rap and spoke word for an entire generation can still put something together that feels, at very least, polished and urgent. Beat bumps, the video is pretty cool, and Heron’s tortured voice propels “Me and the Devil” into fascinating territory. I’m looking forward to Heron’s new album I’m New Here. A pleasant surprise in the midst of an ailing New York rap scene…if we even have a rap scene here anymore.

Have listened to Mr. Gil Scott Heron for a very long time. Remember when his first album (not a CD, but vinyl) was first issued. Still play the (cd now) #2 in the disc changer. Sorry to see him gone. But now he can rap for GOD, in person. RIP
