Clare Mallison

Today while checking out my RSS Feeds I came across the work of Clare Mallison (thanks to NetDiver). After hitting a couple links here and there I was sent straight to a rather impressive portfolio of work illustrative of Mallison’s knack for draughtsmanship.

What I find so compelling about the work of Clare Mallison is her natural and unforced ability to be sculptural when it comes to her illustrations. According to her about section “her work is a mix of quink ink pro markers and sometimes pencil”, evident in her overlay of marker to create tones and values. She allows for the 2-dimensional to almost seem 3-dimensional with whimsical pen strokes and the layering of colors. From portraits to cityscapes through her eye we see something vividly cheerful about the world. Enchanting to say the least.
